Confirming your Faith

Yes, the Confirmation Class is officially complete!  Now, what do we do?  Well, we live as disciples of Jesus Christ!

What does this mean? It means we add our name to the Roll of Professing Members.  We agree to support the United Methodist Church, and specifically the local church, with our prayers, our presence, our gifts, our service, and our witness.   This sounds like a life-long confirming process.  Each time we pray for our pastor, we are confirming our faith in God.  Each time we attend a worship service, even if it is on a weekday evening, like the Ascension Day service, we are confirming our faith in God.  Each time we write the tithe check or give 10% of the cash we were given or earned, we confirm our faith in God.  Each time we volunteer in the nursery or lead a ministry with the gifts God gives us, we are confirming our faith.  Each time we speak well of what God is doing in our local church, even with our individual selves, then we are confirming our faith in God.

Yes, the Confirmation Class is over.  We still get to confirm our faith in God, each day, each  year, each decade, of our lives.  It is good that our local United Methodist Church is around so that we can confirm our faith in God.  Have you started confirming your faith in your local United Methodist Church?
